THE QUAY OF HARLOTS

Spent the night by the River last night and it was just the perfect night. Cool, bright stars and the big ole moon casting just enough light over us. Three of us were there to meet up with a few others.

Almost immediately, we were like school girls, chatting non-stop and updating each other on our lives. However, two drinks later, when we had time to breathe and people watch, it dawned on us that the famouse stretch of pubs by the River had transformed over the months.

I'm cannot be quite sure when this trend started but it had. There were numerous Filipino hookers standing at intervals, trying hard to blend in the crowd. A friend of ours, who works there, came up to us and told us how these Filipino girls had been showing up gradually. She herself is a Filipino, so she has chatted with them lots in their native Tagalog.

Apparently, many of them have migrated from the Four Floors of Whores, over at Orchard Towers. While I have nothing against them trying to make a living from anyone who is willing to pay for their services, I found it was spoiling the ambience of the place, if it hasn't already been tarnished.

Well, I guess they feel that the Four Floors of Whores has worn out its novelty and have decided to replace it with their new hangout - The Quay of Harlots.
