SINGAPORE REVELATION

I met a friend for hi-tea yesterday and she was going on and on about my blog. While she was telling me how she loved it, she also pointed out that I was not quite accurate about a post I made recently about Audrey Tan, a Singapore-born exotic dancer based in New Zealand.

No, it wasn't anything about her but she wanted to pointed out that she is not the first. Even before the now-famous Anabel Chong and present rave, Tila Tequila, thery have been and are still other Singaporeans who are in porn.

How did she know? Well her classmate from a long time ago is in it with her cousin. She is not in the mainstream porn videos but poses a lot in several men's magazines.

I've often wondered what compels women to go into porn and while I have absolutely no qualms about what people chose to do, I am curious. Apparently, the money is not exactly as good as it used to be but it is decent enough, according to my friend.

They were not forced or coerced into it and neither did it constitute part of a payback for any loans. These women were not exactly poor or desperate but had always wanted to perform in the adult industry. I suppose that is good enough for me. After all, they are doing what they have always wanted to do unlike the thousands of people who sell theirselves short by working in an industry that they are not exactly trained or want to do.

I've an engineer friend in the banking industry. Another girlfriend, trained in marketing but works in a hotel. Both are miserable but keep doing it because the pay is good.

So I guess it's really doing what we want to do that counts in this very short life that we have. But more importantly, I'm starting to realise that there are a lot more Singapore women in the porn industry that we don't know about. I'd love to get the opportunity to interview them. Let's just see how it goes with my friend's classmate.
